I was thinking if I could dance contemp and I am currently 13, but my parents won’t let me.:( So if I begin at the age of 17 would that be ok? Will I be able to catch up? I am currently into athletics and I am a track runner, so I have a lot of stamina and I play percussion and piano so I think I can hit the beats and be able to get into the music. Thanks! Please help me answer this. PLEASE

  1. It's NEVER too late to start dancing.  Even if you can't take dance classes right now, there are tons of instructional videos and classes online (even on YouTube).  Just watching them and learning some basic combinations will get you some practice.  It might be a bit hard though, because you won't have anyone first hand to correct you.  Don't worry about starting late though-a lot of amazing dancers didn't start until they were a bit older too.

  2. you will be able to, however it isnt the best time to start. I suggest reasoning with your parents? Say it's something you really really want to do? I dont see why not go for your dreams.

Contemporary is absolutely beautiful and my favourite style. Honestly, I dont think you should postpone it for like 4 years.

I started at age 10 and with a background of dance it's much easier to do it.

If it's something you want to do why should your parents stop you from doing such.

If there is absolutely no way you can...then i guess waiting till 17 is all you can do..

    good luck ;)

  3. yes you will. BUT REMEMBER THIS: if ur starting contemporary at an older age, the less flexible ur body is. KEEP BODY VERY FLEXIBLE and stretch every day and stay n shape. it'll help

  4. I suggest you try it because there never is any age that is too late to start dancing. Since you are into music and athletics, it is easy for you to dance. Good luck!

  5. why wont your parents let you??? lol anyway you will be able to catch up but you will have to work hard and you should now start doing streches so you will be flexible
