Question:

Hey you drivers that like to travel UNDER the speed limit, and you drivers who know what I'm talking about?

Why do you do this? It is SO inconsiderate and traffic causing. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? When the speed limit is 55 and people are putting on their brakes to stay at 45? Or when the speed limit is 45 people stay at 40? WHY!?!? And whatever the reason is, people should pay attention to their speed and their surroundings and be considerate of other drivers. You know like, moving over rather than driving evenly with the other slow person next to you and going the speed limit so other people can get where they're going.

  1. When I'm approaching a red light, the foot comes off the gas. If you feel some urgency to get quickly closer to that red lights (so that you can stomp on the brake pedal perhaps?) then you'll have to figure something out for yourself. That speed limit maximum speed and is not a recommendation to maintain that speed, to foolishly hurry to a sit still. If making a long drift toward a possible stop, I signal approaching cars of my slower speed so that they have adequate to zip from lane to lane and gain a car length by the time we reach that redlight. Of course if they're at a dead stop and I'm still coasting at 15 mph they soon lose that lead. Gas is to expensive to throw away on building speed that, in a few moments, you will be wearing out your brakes to reduce.

I agree entirely that people shouldn't "play parcheesi" on the highway, forming blocks that other drivers can't pass. Either pass or don't pass, but don't abreast of the car in the next lane.

  2. What is your hurry?  I am thinking you are a young driver. You didn't say. How many tickets have you paid? Hope you have a good bank account cause you are headed for  a citation. It is best to be cautious then rushing all over to get nowhere fast. You should listen to what you just stated too. Be considerate of other drivers.

  3. Okay, lemmie guess! You just met someone on your way home/wherever you are now who did that particular thing, and before you never had anything against those people, but now you're totally ticked and so you posted this to hopefully stir more people up so you can take it out on them!

    ....oh yeah; I'm goood!

  4. Personally, if I see you behind me coming up 30mph too fast and whipping from lane to lane, I will travel up beside a slow poke and mirror them in order to slow you down.

Why....because is it really that imporant you get there that fast?

ps. I drive 5-10 over but if I see you driving 20 over...I'll slow you up.

  5. Haha... I think people who do that take the word "limit" a little too seriously... they think the VERY fastest they can go is 45 (or whatever the speed "limit" happens to be on that particular road/freeway).  I figure if police officers usually go five to ten over the speed limit, we can too!

  6. If they stay in the slow lanes, where they belong, that's ok.  They are a safety hazard just like those who are going well over the speed limit

  7. what is your hurry?

in a 45 if i drive 40....perhaps it is becasue it is night, or raining or foggy.  maybe i am slowing down because there is a sharp corner or that i have never driven down this road before.

where i live, i do not see many driving in the fast lane at 45 when the speed limit is 55.  by the way, not too many freeways where i live are even 55 anymore....try 60 or 65.

are you the type that when you pass me in the city....i end up meeting you at the next stoplight?  i like to smile at those people who ZOOMED by me while i was going the speed limit and they were going much faster than the speed limit.

    have a safe drive....

OK then,  having said that...those that get in the fast lane on the freeway and drive slow...need to get into the slow lane.

  8. I'm going to assume you're a new driver and you want to get everything as quickly as possible.

Honestly, I think it's you that needs to be considerate to other drivers.  You're probably the person who drives bumper to bumper with the person who is driving a smidgen below the speed limit (with good reason, likely).  You are going to be the cause of an accident some day, and with hope you learn your lesson.

  9. First of all Many speedometers are calibrated different. Not exactly like yours. Second many would rather be a little under than over. Probably got better places to spend their money than on speeding tickets. 3 Maybe many of them are trying to become as great a driver as you are . Life is short take time to smell the roses. lol

  10. The reason why some drivers may choose to drive at a speed slightly below the posted limit is because your speed should be dictated by the road conditions. Often it is unsafe to drive at the posted limit.

Also, driving at a few mph less will save fuel whilst only adding a few seconds to your overall journey.

As long as drivers who choose to drive a little slower stick to the slow lane it is not a problem. The problem is when slow drivers are in the fast or overtaking lane....that causes dangerous driving  and road rage from other drivers.

  11. chill. cars have horns for reasons. pass them or shine your brights and honk. its what the rest of us do...DEAL WITH

    IT

  12. Geez, chill out.

Last I checked, accidents are caused by people driving too fast, not too slow.

  13. The almighty "self ordained pace car"...lovely...ok:

    1.  A lot of times the MORON changed the size of his/her rims/tires and didn't recalibrate their spedometer.  /groan

    2.  Some people just get off on pissing other people off...

Don't worry...these people DO get pulled over for impeding trafic flow.  I've seen it...and it's awesome!

I live 35 miles from where I work, and see a lot of c**p on the road.  I just leave 1hr early and if I get to work too early...I hit Starbucks on the way and read the Wall Street Journal  :-)

    *cheers*

  14. Limit implies the maximum or the minimum and the speed limit as we see it indicates the maximum. This isn't to say that people cannot travel faster or slower- it's meerly an indication as to the type of traffic one could expect to encounter. Traveling too slowly can cause accidents the same way that travelling too fast can. Personally I vary te limit by 9 mph eithier way. It's okay to slow down, enjoy the surroundings, and appreciate.

  15. I know what your saying i hate it too.  They just need to get up the road!!!!

  16. While I applaud the law abiding citizens who do the speed limit, I do find it terribly annoying when someone is doing the speed limit or less in the passing lane. I am not a light flasher and I do give them the opportunity to move over, but after several minutes of them not moving I do get irked. It's as if they are the only one on the road in their own little world. I have actually passed people who have  had a book in their hands while holding the wheel!
