The veteran manager has expressed his joy over Bayern’s win in the German Supercup and believes that a good start will help the UEFA Champions League finalists ahead of the new campaign.

The Allianz Arena outfit were on the losing side for the past five consecutive matches against the German double winning team. This trend changed with the Supercup tie as Die Bayern defeated the Bundesliga Champions, with goals
from Mario Mandzukic and Thomas Muller on Sunday.

were worthy winners as they dominated the field of play in the decisive moments.
"Obviously, winning this game is a psychological boost. Overall we deserved to win, although it was hard-fought," Heynckes was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician feels that they controlled the play in the earlier stages of the match and gained the lead because of their resilience in attack. Jurgen Klopp’s side came back to form in the latter parts of the match and broke through
Der FCB’s defence to score as Bayern were caught off guard.
"Especially in the first half we played very well with good organisation and huge discipline. We had some great moments when we attacked. We were inspired by the early goals. Dortmund worked up a head of steam in the second half,
and we were not as well-organised and disciplined in defence,” he stated.
Heynckes said that it was only an offseason fixture and the result of the match is not vital. He claimed that the two German giants can become better and work on their weaknesses.
"It was the Supercup, but it was still a pre-season game. Both teams can still improve," he finally concluded.
Bayern kickoff their season against newly promoted side Greuther Furth on August 25.
