The Bayern Munich manager has admitted that the Brazilian can play as a makeshift left-back after injuries to David Alaba and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Contento-c11113.
The Bavarian giants have suffered a huge blow ahead of the start of the new season as two of their left-backs; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Alaba-c10416 and Diego Contento have suffered injuries. Alaba is out with a foot fracture whereas Contento faces time
on the sidelines and will probably miss the start of the campaign.
Jupp Heynckes insisted that he is not keen on playing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929 on the left side of defence temporarily as he feels that the skipper is at his best when he plays as right-back. He also played down reports of going in the transfer
market for another defender and is happy with the depth in his squad.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss wants his best players to play in their best positions and admits that deploying Lahm on the left would affect the crossing as the German international is a right-footed player.
“I'm unwilling to switch Philipp back to the other side. I have to take account of the big picture. We need to play down the wings, delivering crosses and angled balls into the box. We have top-class strikers who are excellent
on the end of crosses, but we have to supply them from the wide areas,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician has hinted that he will consider http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luiz-Gustavo-c22844 to start on the left side of defence if Alaba and Contento do not reach full fitness in time for the start of the season. He is confident that the Brazilian can give his
best as a full-back as he has previously impressed in that position.

Bayern Munich will kick start their Bundesliga season against Greuther Furth later this month and will be hoping to end their two-year drought of winning the league this time around. The club faces tough competition from the likes
of Borussia Dortmund, Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach for the Bundesliga.
