The Bayern Munich manager feels that the midfielder has recovered well from injury and admits that the player is close to a return.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374, who has been out for the last four weeks with an ankle injury, is close to making a comeback for the Bavarian giants. The player has joined regular training and is nearing full fitness.
Jupp Heynckes has admitted that the player could return as early as in the next Bundesliga fixture against Hoffenheim at home. He insisted that the midfielder has had a good rehabilitation and has recovered from the injury. However,
the manager has admitted that the player would not start the game as he is short on match practice.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss stressed that Schweinsteiger is an integral part of the team and admitted that the midfielder’s absence has been one of the reasons for Bayern’s disappointing form after the winter break.
“I hope I’m able to include him when I name the squad tomorrow. He's trained relatively well with the rest of the team. But he's spent weeks exclusively on sports rehab exercise. For me and for the team, he's an important contact
point both on and off the field. He's a crucial player whose personality is a stimulus to the team,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Bayern’s official website.
On the other hand, the manager revealed that right-back Rafinha is doubtful for the clash against Hoffenheim as he is suffering from flu. He stated that the medical team will take a final decision on Saturday which will decide
whether he takes part in the game or not.
“And he'll very probably be unavailable for Saturday. He doesn't have a temperature, but his blood readings weren't good. We'll see how it looks on Friday before taking a final decision,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will face Hoffenheim in their next league fixture at Allianz Arena on Saturday. The reverse fixture between the two sides in October last year resulted in a 0-0 draw at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena.
The Bavarians are currently second on the table with 48 points, seven points adrift of reigning champions Borussia Dortmund.
