The Bayern Munich manager has insisted that his side is capable of winning the group and is relieved that his side is not drawn in the ‘Group of Death’.
The Bavarian giants have been drawn in Group F with the likes of Valencia, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800 and BATE Borisov. Valencia and Lille are expected to give some tough competition to the Reds for progression to the knock-out round as both sides
have strengthened their squad in the summer transfer window.
Jupp Heynckes, Bayern Munich’s manager, claimed that his side can manage the group and admitted that they have a very good chance to go through to the next round. The tactician stressed that the UEFA Champions League is the toughest
competition in Europe and it has some of the best teams.
The former Bayer Leverkusen boss is confident ahead of Europe’s elite club competition and is hopeful that his side can go all the way this time around. The Reds reached the final of the Champions League last season, but were knocked
out by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on penalties at the Allianz Arena.
“It's definitely a manageable group for us, on paper. But the Champions League is difficult and you have to respect all your opponents. We're certainly looking forward to it,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 is also confident that his side has the potential to go far in the competition. He admitted that Valencia and Lille are good teams, but feels that both sides lack the experience to get the better
of Bayern Munich.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Madrid, and Lille have played quite a few games in the Champions League. But I still think we can be satisfied with the draw, as last year's group was tougher on
paper,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will play their first game against Valencia on Wednesday, September 19, at the Allianz Arena. The home side will be looking to get their European campaign off to a winning start against the Spanish team to get the
upper hand in the group.
