Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes is aiming to end the first half of the season on a high with a win against the 2.Bundesliga side.
The Bavarians are looking for a win against the second division team in the third round of the German Cup as they look to maintain their winning run before the start of the winter break and make sure they stay in the race for the
treble.
Die Bayern reached Round 3 at the expense of Eintracht Braunschweig and FC Ingolstadt earlier in the competition and will be facing the Unrelegatables at the rewirpower Stadium in Bochum on Tuesday, December 20.
Heynckes claimed that his side knows that Bayern wants to challenge for all the honours this season so it is very important to get a good result against Bochum. He insisted that Bayern are on top of the Bundesliga table and have
qualified for the UEFA Champions League knock-out stage so the only thing left would be to progress in the DFB-Pokal.
The manager admitted that it will not be an easy task as the opposition is brilliant when playing at home and the Bavarians will have to be careful throughout the course of 90 minutes to make sure the task is done successfully.
“The players know that not only do we want to spend the winter still in the cup, but we have ambitions to win it. The team is highly-motivated and nobody is relaxing. Until tomorrow night, the motto is all-out attack,” he was quoted
as saying in an interview.
The former Bayer Leverkusen manager admitted that he will not take his chances against the opposition and will field a strong side in the fixture. He hinted that there will be big names involved to make sure the team progresses.
“Certainly I will be fielding a side which gives us a certain guarantee of being able to win the match. It is going to be Bochum's match of the year and we are going to have to be in charge of the situation from the off,” he concluded.
