The remarkable manager has announced that he might leave the Bavarian giants’ post after the current campaign, that is, after his contract with the FC Hollywood side comes to an end.
Bayern Munich trainer Jupp Heynckes has conceded that he may call his time on his managerial career with the Bavarian club, after serving three spells with the team. The former Real Madrid coach was appointed the manager in 2011
after the departure of Louis van Gaal.
The tactician helped them reach the finals of Europe’s premier cup competition and the German Cup, along with a runners-up place in the Bundesliga. Last week, Die Roten won the DFL-Supercup defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-1.
Moreover, the 67-year-old conceded that he is now too old to coach on a regular basis and might end his coaching career in 2013. He said that the Bayern officials will try to sign a good replacement. The manager added that his
health concerns have forced him to make this decision.
"Let's be honest, I have a two-year contract which ends on June 30 2012. And then another stage of life comes to an end. I am no longer 37 years old,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former West http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 striker suggested that his successor can be of any age, as long as he is a good one. He commented that the only thing the Reds want is to win trophies and maintain their stellar history.
"Ultimately, it's also whether they want a young or an old coach here. At Bayern one thing is important: success," he mused.
Numerous candidates have been lined up for the position. It was speculated in June that former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 coach Pep Guardiola is considered to take over the responsibility from Heynckes, at the end of the season. Lucien Favre has
also been linked with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 after impressing with his work at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Furthermore, Franz Beckenbauer revealed that Bayern might target Thomas Tuchel on the advice of club president, Uli Hoeness.
"I imagine that [president Uli] Hoeness would consider him," he finally concluded.
Heynckes is a very experienced manager and has coached Gladbach, Athletic Bilbao and Bayer Leverkusen among other teams as well.
