Therefore, the forward will have to risk physical issues if he makes an early comeback to Der FCB squad. The former Stuttgart attacker has missed three months of football because of an ankle problem and participated in his first
practice session over the weekend.
However, Die Roten tactician has told him to wait and regain full fitness in order to stage a comeback. Heynckes stated that it will not be a wise decision to let the forward return quickly. As a result, he had to make this aware
to the hit-man to return when he is fully fit to play.
"Sometimes you have to tell players to slow down. This is the case with Mario; we want him 100 per cent before he returns to the first team,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The boss further added that the 27-year-old was given the best treatment for a quick recovery. He claimed that 11 weeks is a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and said he is pleased to have his main man back on the training ground.
"He has worked with the best fitness trainers in order to get him back. 11 weeks is a long time to be out of football for any player, so it was nice to see him back in training," he mused.
"It's fun to watch the boys and a good feeling to be back involved, even if it is bitter for me not to be out there," he finally concluded.
Gomez is happy to return to the team, and expressed his disappointment over the ankle injury. He suggested that it was important that he got back.
