Heyneke Meyer names his squad for the test series – Rugby News Update
Heyneke Meyer, the head coach of South Africa, has announced a 42-man squad for a training camp before deciding on the final team before the English visit the southern hemisphere.
The England team, coached by Stuart Lancaster, is set to tour South Africa for a three-match test series, along with playing two other mid-week games during the summer tour. Meyer wants to prepare in the best possible way and he has announced a preliminary
squad, leaving the door open to players who have not been included in the 42-man short list.
"This is by no means a final Springbok squad and the door will be open for all our eligible players until the announcement of the squad that will take on England. This camp will put in place a number of the finer details in terms of what we want to achieve
against England. We will hit the ground running on 3 June, when we converge in Durban for the first Test with a final squad."
This is encouraging for Fourie du Preez or Jaque Fourie who ply their trade in Japan presently, and it is possible that they will get a call up sometime later.
The camp is starting in Dublin, and on that he said, "We've planned it in Durban, because the Stormers take on The Sharks at Kings Park the day before and will be there already."
The training camp consists of players who play across all five regions of the Super Rugby, and players who were injured have not been considered for the camp.
It is set to be an amazing series, and with a resurgent England team under Lancaster, they will be gunning to beat the Springboks.
