I babysit my cousin during the summers. they both (mainly one) don't want to come over to my house. They want my cousin to watch them because she lets them run around and do whatever they want. I have alrerady talked to their mom and told her that we have an agreement made at the beginning of the summer that I would watch them. She agrees with me but she doesn't want to hear the kids whine and cry everyday when she drops them off. Its not that they don't have fun-they do!- its just that they want to do whatever they please which cant happen with me. Since the begginning of the summer I have made sure that we do at least one fun activity everyday but that just isn't cutting it and since their mother won't discipline them, I need to really plan some fun stuff for them to blow the chance of them going to my other cousin's house out of the water. Since the beginning of the summer We have had an agreement where if they are good all week on friday we will order a pizza, go to the movies, etc

  1. why dont you ASK THEM the fun activities they want to do, then tweak them to your liking.

  2. I am a babysitter too and you really need to relax. Leave the disciplining up to the mom. Even if she doesn't do it, it's not your job to. Kids like to be spontaneous, you can keep the calendar have kids look forward to cool activities yet do other things to. If there is a park let them ride theirs bikes and at the park get them ice cream. Make up games on the spot. For younger kids especially, it was raining one time while babysitting and our plan to go out side and play tag/hide and go seek failed due to the weather so I came up with a game called the letter game. They had to go all over the house searching for letters until they had the whole alphabet. They went threw magazines and newspapers yet they could only count one letter per page. It was really fun and you can do it with numbers and colors. What I am trying to say is relax kids don't really like to fallow a schedule be creative. Play imagination. Just let them have a little room to breathe. Let them come to you telling you what they want to do.  Good Luck and I know you can do it.

  3. Well what about just watching them at their house so they have all their own things to play with?

  4. You need to tell them that you'll do 1 fun activity every day, and they can suggest things, but if they whine or complain - then they can't do it.
