  1. A simulator can be a great way to learn some basics in the comfort of your own home. You can also fly radio/control planes and helicopters for more hands on experience.

  2. Look at these websites:

    http://www.ninety-nines.org/license.html

    http://www.aopa.org/learntofly/

    http://www.beapilot.com/

Then go visit a local flight school. The following are current FAA requirements for receiving a Private Pilot Certificate in the USA:

    (1)  Minimum age of 16 to solo and 17 to become licensed, but you can start training at any age.

    (2)  Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.

    (3)  Hold an FAA Third Class Medical Certificate. See http://www.faa.gov/pilots/become/medical...

    (4)  Pass the FAA "written" test, which consists of seventy multiple-choice questions covering:

    Airplanes and Aerodynamics

    Aviation Weather & Weather Services

    Airplane Instruments, Engines, and Systems

Airports, Air Traffic Control, and Airspace

    Navigation: Charts, Publications, Flight Computers

    Federal Aviation Regulations

    Navigation Systems

Airplane Performance & Weight / Balance

Cross-Country Plight Planning - FAA Flight plan form

Aeromedical Factors & Aeronautical Decision Making

    (5)  Flight time requirements- Minimum of 40 hours of flight time, including:

    (a)  Minimum of 20 hours total flight instruction with a      Certificated Flight Instructor, including minimum of: 3 hours of cross country flight to other airports,  3 hours at night, including 10 takeoffs and landings and one night cross-country flight of at least 100 nautical miles. 3 hours in airplanes in preparation for the Practical Test (Checkride) within 60 days prior to that test.  3 hours of instrument flight training.

    (b)  Minimum of 10 hours of solo flight, including minimum of: 10 hours in airplanes.  5 hours of cross-country flights to airports 50 nautical miles or more distant from the departure airport, including one flight of 150 nautical miles with landings at 3 points, one of which must be more than 50 nautical miles from the departure airport. 3 takeoffs and landings at an airport with an operating control tower.

    (6)  Pass a Practical Test (Checkride) with an FAA Inspector or Designated Examiner, which includes a review of the student's logbook, medical certificate, and other paperwork, an oral exam on aeronautical knowledge, and a proficiency flight in an airplane.

  3. this question gets asked here several times a day, so I would search those first.  Then do some research of your own.  Call flight schools, or just visit one.  Look up aviation colleges.  Do you have a degree?  Getting one would be a good idea.  And be careful who's answers you listen to.  Some of the posters here are teenagers too, with no flight time just yet.  Good luck.

  4. You're gonna want to attend flight school, get your private pilot,, certificate (pass 3rd class medical exam), your instrument and multi-engine ratings, your commercial pillot certificate to get hired (second class), and your ATP (first class exam) to become pilot in command. In addition to this, it is highly recommended you get a four-year degree in science or math to improve your chances of getting hired. You need 1500 cross-country flight log hours for either your ATP or commercial, I can't remember. hopefully someone will correct me.

-How old are you? You can't solo until you're 16, get your private pilot until 17, commercial till' 18 and can't get your ATP until you're 23.

Also, I know school can be pretty expensive, so you might want to consider student loans if you can or ask the manager of the school to wash planes in exchange for lessons. My friend does this.

Here are sites that may help you find schools:

    http://learntofly.com

    http://beapilot.com

If you have any questions go down to your flight school(s) and meet the people, check out the fleet, and make sure you're comfortable. They will answer any questions you have.

Have questions? You can email me.

  5. You gotta have deep pockets to pay for the lessons and the plane rental to log flight hours.

  6. go to flight school play lots of flight simulator 10

  7. Flying radio controlled aircraft has absolutely nothing to do with becoming a pilot...That's like telling someone to go listen to fm radio to give them more hands on experience with ham radio operating.

The best thing that you can do is to go down to your local airport and talk to an instructor.  Also, surf the web.  There are plenty of websites dedicated to becoming a pilot

    Hope this helps!!
