Hi, I’m hoping to migrate to Aussi and hoping to open a saloon in Melbourne, Australia. What’s the procedure?

I want to know is it possible to open a saloon in Australia to a foreigner?

Currently I’m studying beauty culture course in a reputed saloon school in my country.I have worked in a big salon too.Can I open a saloon and can I make profits?

Pls tell me is this a good idea.

Of course you can do anything in Australia!! My Neighbour closed his salon in the UK to come here and open one. Best thing to do though would be to come over first and try out a job in one first to see if you like it and do some research with what is available. Especially since you have chosen Melbourne which is a questionable location. :-)

FYI... a saloon is actually a pub/bar. I think you meant Beauty Salon.

Yes you can. I know that there are plenty of immigrants in Australia who are opening Beauty Salon or operating in hair & makeup salon like hair salon, nail salon, make-up artists etc. However you may need to work with someone first so at least you understand the employment laws, minimum salary, superannuation etc. This is important b'cos if you dun follow the business laws in Australia, you may ended up in trouble.

The first step is to apply for a work visa or residency. There are 2 ways to do this:

1. Apply directly thru Australian High Commissions/Embassy nearest to where you live to choose what category of immigration that you want to be. This is the cheaper way but you will need to understand all the requirements and preparations by yourself. A bit difficult if your English is not very good.

2. Apply thru immigration agency. They can make a preliminary assessment of your chance to emigrate to Australia. If you have enough point, then they will help you to prepare the documents and what to do/say during the interview. This of course come at a cost, but for some ppl it is money well spent.
