I am aware that they use the Colombian Peso but do not know what to take for the better, cash or cheques.

  1. Traveller's Cheques would do fine, specially in Bogota where most international banks are (HSBC, Citibank, ABN AMRO, among others). However, dollar banknotes would certainly be much more practical as as there are loads of currency exchange places, including at all Carrefour supermarkets (Western Union has 'outlets' there) and certain shopping centres, as apposed to the banks which are fewer, close earlier and are more of a hassle - huge queues!

I also suggest cashing your dollars once you touch down since the US dollar is no longer a 'hard currency' as it used to be - it has tailspun in value ( a year ago the dollar was over 3000 pesos to the dollar, now it is barely above 2000 pesos)

  2. i dont know but say hi to my cousin eber benitez if you see him

  3. hi!

first of all, is not Columbia, is Colombia, now, you should take cheques (because is only for a few weeks) but if you can take some cash is better because here in Colombia isn't common to buy and pay things with dollars. one dollar is approx. $2000 pesos, you can sell some dollars in the "casas de cambio"
