  1. get a 600cc or if you wanted little more power go for 750cc. dont go for the 1000cc straight of cos its raw power!

  2. I'd say 600cc's dirt riding and street riding are two totally different things.

  3. What type of dirt bikes you ride? 2 or 4 stroke?

But if you have dirt biking experience you could go a few ways with a street bike.

First off... TAKE THE MSF class.. yea you may have experience on dirt, but dirt doesn't have semi trucks and stop lights. Once you feel like you're ready for the road ask your instructor what he thinks of your riding ability and what you could handle..

If not.. then you could also start on a used 250 or 500cc bike to " Learn" and grow on.. Then once you feel comfortable you can get into a 650+cc bike..

I tend to play it safe tho. I rather ride a slow bike fast then a fast bike slow.

    Hope I've helped ya out.

  4. I agree that dirt/street riding are two totally different things. Riding on dirt will give you some insight on riding on street but you have to account for so many more threats when you are on the street. Not only do you have to think for yourself but for everyone else on the road.

I also preach the MSF course as well, I've taken it and it is a great learning experience no matter how long you have been riding.

A gsxr 600 is a sweet and s**y bike if you ask me, but get on it for a min before you buy it. Its a little uncomfortable for me but im a shorter guy...5'7". It does have plenty of balls tho for when you wanna jump on it.  Those bikes also have great resale potential so if you have it for a while then wanna trade up it wont be hard at all to get rid of it for a down payment on the next one up. Its easy to get in over your head when you buy a big *** bike so try a few out before you sign the line.

If nothing else, be safe. Stupid Hurts.

  5. Personally i think the Gsxr 600 is plenty bike.  You will top out over 155mph, which is faster than you should ever go anyways, and will have plenty of power all the way through the RPM range.  I am 5'10 330lb fatty, and I ride a Yamaha R6, and it has lots of umpfh when I twist the throttle.
