Would this effect my insurance rate for the car I'm driving right now? I have been with the insurance 21st for last 6 years and currently paying about $222/ 6 months ( ) and never gotton a ticket while driving the car. I bought a used motorcycle, rode, got ticketed and sold the motorcycle /end of story. thank you

  1. See if there is a diversion you can go to through your local state/county, most of the time if you go to the diversion program your ticket will be stricken off of your record, and you could also call your insurance agent and ask?

  2. Hi there,

I am a insurance broker for a few diffrent insurance companies. More than likely, the speed will effect your rate. If there is anything on your MVR for the last three years, the insurance company will rate you based off that. It doesn't matter what kind of car/motorcycle/scooter. A ticket is a ticket is a ticket, and it will follow you for three years.

Plus, the whole "point" system is purely a tool insurance companies used for rating. For example, in Oregon, where I live, any speed is at least 2 pts, and it can increase with the severity of the speed, and among insurance companies.
