Hi, I was stopped 8th april 2008 for driving without insurance.?

Question

officer told me that I will receive letter from court but I still have not received anything. the problem is, I'm leaving country in 10 days, and I'm really worried if it wont come before then. I'm comming back in september, and what will happen if I will receive it before I come back? I wont be able to check my post.

The only thing the letter is going to say is that you need to provide proof of insurance within 60 days to prevent....suspension of your license, tags, and registration.  I know I been there and done that.

Its not that serious an issue if you do not recieve the letter before you leave you but have made an effort to take care of the situation and do recieve something while you are gone upon immediate return take care of the situation and explain your situation. i have done this before courts are understandable and you will not get punished for a faulty judicial system.

this i do not under stand if you where stopped on 8 april then you should have had  a fine long before now .if you get done for speeding you get a fine with in a week it sounds to me that the paper work has got lost and you are one lucky person it would never take that long to sort out

Was it your own car? did you have the proper licence i.e. a full UK driving licence? with your name in it and address or it was not? if the answer is no on the above then the letter will go to someone else, do the right thing and go to your local police and investigate, driving without the proper insurance cove is a very dangerous thing and it is not taking lightly by the police.

I would get insurance & try to get into see the judge before you leave.

I suggest you go to your local police station and let them know the situation.

You can ask the police when the letter may arrive and also have your mail re-directed to the country you are in or have it redirected to a freind who you trust. It doesn't cost very much.
