  1. Bible Quail are birds AND poultry...  They and their eggs are clean enough to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They can be hatched from eggs and they can be completely tame and loveable.  With a bird jonnie,(diaper) they can freely roam the house and be everyone's pet... sitting on laps, beds, hands etc with no fear of little surprizes!

I have 300-400 birds at any given time and I keep 2 as my favorites... these two, Harvey and Lulu were featured in my hometown local newspaper!

People buy them from me at the local farmers market for eggs, meat and pets.  Since game birds are very rare where we are, children who buy the super tame ones that we raise become extremely popular with their local neighborhoods.  They are tested for Avian flu, salmonellae, and other diseases to keep everyone safe.

I hope that you and your parents consider hatching or buying Bible quail....  they are such a blessing.

  2. yes i have ducklings. they are soo cute but a lot of work

  3. Birds (whether canaries, finches, doves, or parrots) can make wonderful companions.  My babies are my life, and help make any day better with their little quirks.  But sometimes they can also be a great pain.  However, they are a huge responsibility and huge commitment. They will make a fair amount of noise (noise level depends on the species, but they ALL make noise) They are messy, and even your sweet baby will bite you.  (I don't care how much they love you and how well trained they are, you WILL get bit) Aside from the mess, biting, and noise they are very expensive.  The birds themselves aren't cheap, and then avian vet care, toys, food, and especially the cage.  To own any bird takes a lot of space, time, dedication, love, patience, and it will take your budget for all it's worth.  If you can handle these facts, then a bird could be a great pet for you and your family.

  4. The thing is - other than the big responsibility of feeding and cage cleaning - birds need a LOT of interaction. Otherwise they get lonely and very sad. They are flock creatures and feel more comfortable in numbers. If you are very busy with extra curricular activities after school, your bird may get neglected. And even the small parakeets will live ten years or more - and maybe your parents do not want to have to step in and take care of your bird when you decide to leave home.

  5. depends on the species if you have lots of time then get a parrot like a lovie or parrotlet p'lets cant scream and not noisy and are ok to be left alone for a few hours while they play with their toys if you are not experienced dont get big parrots like african greys or cockatoos. If you dont have time to devot get a canary or finch although they make plenty of messes. I have 9 canaries currently 2 couples and a clutch they make so much mess you need to vaccum and clean frequently

by the way im 14. had birds since i was 8

  6. Birds are very good pets.  They are affectionate and very cute.  I would suggest a cockatiel because those birds are very sweet.  But then again it's a personal opinion.

  7. YESSSSSSSS! birds r great pets u buils special bonds with them and they r just like real ppl they have their  own personalities, and r overall just great animals, they arent that hard to take care of and not that expensive, they just need ur luv and care, maybe if u really want one u should research the gud things aout them and show it to ur parents. But it depends on the bird you get i HIGHLY recomend a parakeet but if u get one u should get anothe so the other wont be lonely i have to and i luv them so much, and if u get ine or two u should get boys, girls r very agressive, and parakeets only cost 15 to 20 bucks, and live for about 20 to 25 yrs, hope this helps and i hope u get ur bird. JUST TRY TRY TRY to convince ur parents.

  8. They're really good pets. I have a Conure named Stewie, he's really sweet and is extremely smart. Birds in general are extremely smart and sweet. But you will want to invest in a GOOD bird. Not a $10.00 parakeet at pet co. if you look at the lifetimes of those things, it's like 6 months or a year. Stewie was $400.00, but he was totally worth it. Conure's live around 15 or 20 years and don't cost $1,000's like parrots do. Look up different breeds of birds so you can learn about them. But I personally recommend either a breed of Conure (mini parrots), or a Princess of Whales Parakeet.

  9. Birds do make good pets but you have to remember they are a HUGE responsibility. You have to vacuum every day because they always drop birdseed. They also get their cage really dirty and you have to remember to completely clean it out just about every week. But I have to admit, birds are great pets and are very smart. They are fun to have around because you can teach them many words and they make a fun little addition to any household.

  10. Birds are fun, they are also a huge responsibility, they need lots of interaction, Their water dish has to be cleaned each day, along with fresh veggies and fruit, seed and pellets if you wish. Their cage should be cleaned every day. Two times a year they molt, so you have feathers everywhere. Also birds have a wonderful tendency to throw seeds and whatever out of the cage for you to clean up. Even little parakeets.  Think carefully before you buy one. A small bird like a parakeet or cockatiel would be the best. Remember they are dependent on you to take the best care of them possible.  If you let them fly free and you have to watch for the possibility of fans, being stepped on, out the door. Don't keep  them in a kitchen, Teflon coated pans when heated on high emit toxic fumes that will kill them.  So Good Luck.
