Question:

Hi, I would like to know why my 11 week old kitten has started to urinate all over my flat?

He arrived litter trained and still uses the litter tray to do his number 2s, but over the past 3 weeks he has gone from nothing, to doing the odd wee here and there, to weeing 6 - 7 times a day, on the floor, sofa, bed, landing etc. This isn't spraying either, he's literally squatting down and emptying his bladder (and it stinks). I have been told that pushing his nose in the puddle and then placing him in the litter tray will train him not to do it, however this only seem to make him very distressed and just has the reverse effect (does it more frequently). He urinates and then actually sits there, almost showing me that he's done it with a guilty look on his face. Maybe I am not punishing him enough, or maybe I shouldn't be punishing him at all and should perhaps be cleaning his litter tray out more often, or maybe playing with him more frequently. Is he attention seeking??? This really can't go on and I don't know what to do about it. Any ideas?

  1. Get him to the vet asap. it is quite possibly a urinary tract infection that can be cured. I went thru this w/ one of my kitties and after he was treated he stopped the behavior.

  2. NO punishing !!! He sounds like he is sick and trying to communicate with you, that is why  my cat did she had diabetes so he may also have a urinary tract infection or bladder stones.. GET HIM TO A VET! Change in behavior means health issues more often then NOT GOOD LUCK
