Hi, Singapore :-) how many languages do you speak?

Well, the official languages of Singapore are:

> Malay (the national language)

> English

> Chinese (Mandarin)

> Tamil

Malay is used in the national anthem, and even though the Singaporean government try to encourage the use Mandarin as the main Chinese dialect, many Singaporeans of Chinese descent still use other dialects like Hokkien (Min-nan), Teochew, etc. when speaking to each other. English is the most prevalent, but it is often mixed with these aforementioned Chinese dialects and Malay... the result is "Singlish" (short for Singaporean English)

So, the answer is 4.

Hello! Well I speak English & Malay. There are 4 ethnic groups here, with definitely more than 4 languages.. Mandarin and some dialects, Tamil, Hindi, Malay, Boyanese, Javanese..
