  1. Hi, firstly good luck with the birth, 2ndly i have heard walking is great, my friend went shopping 4 days before she was due, she walked round town for about 2 and a half hours, 7.0 clock that night she went into labour. grab your purse and go and treat yourself, you never know tonight may be the night, keep us posted.

  2. Walking is reported as working...is the baby breach or just not engaged?

Also, if the baby sits low to begin with it may just not engage at all...my first child rode low the whole time and didn't engage until the very last second (at 42.5 weeks). I'm in my second pregnancy now (also 38 weeks) and this baby hasn't engaged quite yet, but I'm not expecting early delivery so I don't think she will until closer to 40 weeks.

Pregnancy IS 40 weeks, so give the munchkin time, walk it off and wait for nature to bring you your present when she's ready!

  3. hey- firstly good luck and im soooooo jealous. Cant wait till its me. NOW- i know this may sound silly and might be hard being winter and all but ive heard that doing hand stands in a pool will trick your baby into thinking which position in.. Hope that helps

  4. Get one of those big exercise balls & sit on it with your legs slightly apart & roll your hips in circles. Do this several times a day. Don't bounce however as I did this after getting bored of rolling my hips (call me a big kid but it was also too tempting to use it like a space hopper!!!!) & my son did engage but then moved back in the last week & I ended up with a 43hour labour because he was stuck in an awkward position & in the end a C Sect because of too much bouncing! LOL Not nice!

  5. If this is your 2nd+ baby, it's completely normal for baby not to engage until labour.

Long walks is the answer, worked for me with my first. Sitting on a birthing ball will help as well.

Here's a webpage with exercises to help baby engage:

  6. I sat on a gym ball for a couple of hours a day to get my daughter down!  They're quite cheap at asda (i need to get a new one now i'm 25 weeks again and the last one burst while being played with in the garden!).  It helps the baby get in position by the angle of your hips/pelvis.

    good luck!
