Hi, am i to big to start horse riding, also want to start polo?

im a 21yo guy who has been into horses for ages but havent got round to riding due to my rugby, but now want to start, my weight is 15stone its not fat,can i also play polo at this weight or do i have loss some? i went to ascot park to watch some polo and some of the guys were'nt all under-weight ?

  1. I know a lot of good polo players (5 goalers+) who weight well over 200 lbs.  you just need larger and more ponies. Larger players have to have 6 match ready ponies (one for each chukkar), which means you need to own at least 10 at a time


  2. As long as your polo pony can hold up. Excess weight is hard on a horse and could throw him off balance,Polo ponies have to be the toughest horses in the world.You may want to be an ideal weight so there is no huffing and puffing. Don't starve yourself if you are in the healthy range for your height and frame.Playing will no doubt tell you if you are not fit.They may be big but have you ever see a fat cowboy? Have fun
