Hi, can't decide which city to move to London or Glasgow?

I'm moving to the UK in September and I am landing in London for a few job interviews already lined up. Although, these days I've been hearing a lot of good things about Glasgow- still a big city feel but a lot cheaper. I don't have a job lined up in either, so I am not sure which to pick. I decided on London a while back, but now I'm not sure. I am interested in which city is better for a 23 year old female traveling alone interested in music/films/ and culture. Thanks for any help!

  1. You said you were interested in culture. That's the only reason anyone goes to London, there are loads of free museums etc. Go to London.

  2. London def. London will more than cater for all your culture needs.

Glasgow, like every other city north of the border, is nothing but a dump.

btw I used to live in Newcastle and it is a lovely place.

  3. Anyone who says Glasgow is a dump clearly hasn't been!! It's hard to compare Glasgow to such a great city as London but  I live in Glasgow but have been to London before. Personally I don't think London would  be as great a place to live as Glasgow because its simply too big and busy! especially if you live alone. With Glasgow everything is in the one place and its definately not short of culture. If cost is an issue Glasgow is definately a lot cheaper! There are plenty of job oppertunities aswell go to www.s1jobs.com for jobs in glasgow.

  4. Glasgows cheaper. Londons more full of tourists.

I personally would choose Edinburgh or Dundee. I live in Dundee so obviously I like it but Edinburgh is better for a big city feel. I think Edinburghs bigger than Glasgow anyway.

I say either Edinburgh or Glasogw even though I have nothing againest my hometown or London/England.

To the person who said anyplace above the north border is a dump is seriously wrong and too quick to judge. I'm not saying Scotland is the cleanest place but neither is England. What if all the Scots turned around and said Englands a dump. You wouldn't be so pleased.

    Hope I helped!

  5. Glasgow has been voted European City of Culture , is well positioned for access to other European cities and has a very efficient transport system which gives good access to the finest scenery in the UK . Edinburgh with its Festival is less than an hour by train . London is over crowded and expensive and property prices and rents the highest in the UK . Boils down of course to personal preference .

  6. I am sure that Glasgow is interesting but really!  I think that most people would choose London over Glasgow in a heart beat!  Now, if you want to be in Scotland, Edinburgh is nicer, in my opinion.  Though I would pick Newcastle over both of them.

The more important thing is what kind of job do you want?  If it is much more available in one city rather than the other, pick that one.
