take a bowl and appropriate dimensions you like and fill with nice clean sand. Voila, an egg holder.

Or more fun would be to look for an old nest. Remove from bushes. Put inside a plastic bag into the freezer for a day or two to kill potential insect life and you got the most traditional egg holder of all times.
