  1. Hi,

There are many ways to market a small business on the web.  You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC.  However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

This portal is giving away a free business card holder for lising your business (I got mine a few days ago in the mail).  If you want to know about some other portals, just let me know.

  2. I don't think there's such a site

Big companies, particularly use two methods to advertise online:

    1. They use media buying agencies to buy banner placements for them, and these companies don't disclose where they buy for their clients

    2. They use banner ad networks from Doubleclick to Burstmedia to Tribal Fusion to Advertising.com. And within these banner ad networks, they have three methods of placements:

    - run of the network ad placement which means ALL publishers belonging to the banner ad network

    - run of the category ad placement which means all publishers belonging to a particular category (business and finance, etc)

    - targeted placement where specific sites are chosen to display the banners

Plus it is hard to track these things. Some companies will buy 100,000 ad impressions, which some sites can serve in a week or less. Or some companies will buy only a 2 day placement. Then, an advertiser can simply halt a campaign for any reason whatsoever

So tracking this kind of information is hard to track -- not only is the data too fluid and changes daily, but there is no disclosure for this type of information
