  1. Look up a book published by the "Kintala Club (Australia)" -- "Dog Training, The Gentle Modern Method" by David Weston, published 1990.

    The methods include:

    Short sessions of training

    Food rewards

    Consistency

    Reduce distractions

Don't punish or get angry with the pup

When the pup is disinterested stop and try again later

    Small sessions often

Your hand movements must be consistent or it will confuse the pup

Keep eye contact with the pup so he knows who his master is

YOu can order the book from this website: http://www.kintala.com.au/books.htm

  2. Buy a puppy training book....

To make sit, have the collar and leash at the top of neck below their jowls (like they have it in dog shows). stand beside ur dog and place hand on butt with your fingers pointing out from the butt and the thumb on pointing towards the direction of the head. Press down firmly and repeat "sit" command.  They will automatically sit if done correctly, then say "good boy/girl" and give a small reward ( when training, I give 1/2 saltine cracker for each repitition so they don't load up on unwanted calories and carbs). Focus on teaching one command at a time, repetition is key.

U must teach dog to lay down before rolling over.  Get some books b/c I'm not going to type how to teach each trick.  Positive reinforcement , acting like it's the most amazing thing when they do the trick, and reward are all key components to motivate ur dog in learning and wanting to do the tricks.  If they associate a trick for a treat, they'll gladly comply....

Also, depends on what breed u have. Some are brighter than other and some are more stubborn.  Do ur research on ur breed, and be patient!

  3. Animals (and people) learn through reinforcement.  You must reinforce your puppy for each action.  Try reinforcing only one action at a time...like sitting.  Every time the puppy sits when you say sit, give him a treat.  The best way to do this is through successive approximations.  This basically just means if he gets close to sitting, give a treat.  Each time he makes more progress, treat him, but don't go in reverse.  If he only sits halfway when before he sat fully, don't treat.  Once you've got "sit" working, move on to the next trick you want to teach him.

  4. About the fetching part... figure out which toy they like best and when you do.... play with them (tug-a-war)lightly, you have to be careful with thei teeth and start slowly with the fetching part . Throw the toy a few inches away from you and make sure to get their attention before you do.... or else you'll be playing fetch by yourself. : )  About the sit and roll over part, I'm still working on that with my puppy, and she recently learned to fetch : ) By the way how old is your puppy?Well anyways, I hope you have all the luck and all the fun with your puppy!!!!!!!!! : )

  5. hi

to get your puppy to sit get a treat and drag it over the puppies head. this will make the dog to lean back untill it sits. when it sits say sit and give it the treat. do this for 5 min every day for maybe 2 or 3 days and then when the puppy starts to sit when u just show it the treat start to space out the time from sitting and treating.

watch out, if u give it treats for two long even when its learnt to sit it will only sit if it see's the treats in your hand.

to fetch, throw the toy and enthusiastically call the puppy back, put a treat infront of its face and when the puppy drops the ball say drop and treat it.
