  1. Everything u hav to take in at once at mcdonalds is very daunting!! It usually takes a good 3 months to get the hang of it all, just keep going. Managers will send trainees home if the night is slow cause its no point paying them, (i know its unfair and mean) dont worry just work fast and try your hardest u will soon get good hours and they will prob call u in for extra shifts. Sometimes they send people home if its busy 2 because they have to give ppl breaks if they work 5hours or more, so they just call the nxt person in early and send u home that way they are never down a staff member.

  2. ask if u can stay a little longer, so u can learn more.  It usually takes a week or two to learn everything that you need to know.  If that doesn't work ask other people when they are not busy.

  3. Yep, listen to your friend and leave at 6pm. What would the manager know?

  4. Everyone is different and it takes different lengths of time for different people. Getting to know  any job is hard, especially one where you feel pressured to learn quickly. Most people will get the hang of things in a couple months, however if it takes you more time that is ok as well. Also remember that everyone will make mistakes, evern people who have been there for years. I work most often in service and it took me about 7 months to fully learn the counter, front drive, french fries, back drive and cleaning lobby procedures. After that i started working in the Grill and maintenance and made a bunch of mistakes, even though i had been there almost a year. Same with workers who started in Grill then moved to service, they make a lot of mistakes too. So just remember don't worry about how good others are just do your best, and you'll do fine! Also, yes its highly likely that you were sent home for labor reasons and not preformace issues

  5. i wouldn't work at McDonald's if you paid me all the money in the world, its obvious what they are all about, and secondly I wouldn't worry about making it to shift manager or even staying there too long, you really should learn to use spell check.  you have bad English

  6. I worked at Taco Bell as my first job a million years ago. I now have a job in the medical field and I have 40 employees. If anyone applies that has worked fast food I give them top consideration. It is hard but you learn to be organizied, how to prioritize and you learn excellent customer service skills.

Fast food is hard, but hang in there it will get easier and will be fun. What you learn there will stay with you for the rest of your life.

  7. well i have been working for about a year and a half at three total and i STILL dont know how to do the table but that is all i cant do and just take your time you will learn it TRUST ME!! I had just turned 15 when i began and now i am 16 1/2 (still working at one). Just be glad that you got a few hours in some hours are better than none and soon they will hire more people in and they will get off before you and you will get to stay a while longer. I get to stay sometimes then other times i get sent home early!     McDonald's was my first job also.

    GOOD LUCK!!

  8. My first job too was at McDonalds.

It takes at least 90 days to fully know the job.

As for your second question, you are probably being sent home early because business is slower after 6pm.  The store manager sets the schedule but the co-manager has the responsibility to make sure enough people are there to cover the shift or to send people home early if there isn't enough work to do.

Good luck. You'll do just fine.

EDIT:  To lilgirliam.....This person didn't ask your advice about working for McDonalds!  He asked about learning the job.  This person may have a disability, or maybe they don't speak English as a first language.  Gee whiz, you're a rude little *****
