Hi, i have a 1990 bmw e30 and the hood latch wont catch, what should i do?

push harder..

Look carefully at the thin cable that goes across the hood.  Have a friend operate the lever and look to see if the entire cable is moving and the catches are backing off all the way.  When it won't shut either the cable is no allowing the catch to close all the way or the hood and or catches are misaligned..
