  1. check with your local job and family services office and they can tell you everything you will need to know to get started, how many children you are allowed to have at one time and answer any other questions you probably have.

  2. I run a child care and it may varies for your state. here in Iowa we can have up to eight kids per child care provider (as i work with my mom and since its the both of us we can have more than eight). However some people have to have less. there are different levels. Best bet is to call the local DHS. they can give you guidelines and there may be a childcare and resource place. Like i said, call DHS and they can help you from there. You can email me and if you give me the state you live in, i can ask the people around here. i also will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have have. The lady above me said you might not have to register with the state, but i would recommend it. If you do there are so many programs that help you out and i know lots of parents won't take their kids to a child care that is not registered with the state. Esp since the state does back ground checks.

  3. It all depends on where you live.  Different states have different policies.  I know that in Minnesota it is taken care of at the county level.  Checking out your county's website may help.

  4. if you already have a customer lined up you can become a certified babysitter by taking a class, and if the family qualifies for crystal stairway the state will pay you to take care of the children. just contact  your local welfare office to get more info. but you have to already have a potential customer that qualifies.

  5. It's going to depend on your state laws.  I live in Ohio and as long as you have 6 kids or less(including your own) you do not have to register with the state. I am considered a group B home.

You need to look into your state laws.
