  1. There is nothing wrong w/ Fly Logic, I have built several rods from their

blanks and they are quality servicable rods for the price.

As Airflow pointed out,  a Sage Launch is Sage's introductory rod,

but is is of high quality and under $ 200 - a real bargain in my opinion.

A St. Croix Reign or a Redington Redfly 2 are both very good rods for about  $100

  2. Fly logic is NOT my chosen brand, but its nothing bad i just don't like the action, i know other anglers who swear by them. It depends on what model you were considering for him, price range? i can suggest an alternative, i assume you were looking at the FL premium fly rods that range from around $160? if not then please add some more details, its not  bad rod but if i were you i would buy him a Sage Launch, it should suit your price range well and because its from sage you know your getting a good rod, i assume you know what line rating to select? The sage launch would be your best option, i recently bought one for my son and well its almost as good as my sage z-axsis costing ALLOT more, my point is they are good rods.

There are other rods you might like to look at from well known brands such as Orvis and St Croix, Redington etc, if the sage is out of your price range let me know and i can suggest something better. You also might like to try these rods

  3. That brand, would NOT be a choice that i would make.

Check online at Bass Pro Shops or Cabella's. Both have a large selection of fly tackle.

To keep from having to take out a loan, to buy a HIGH END fly rod, you might check out cabella's & bass Pro Store type rods.

Both, have a nice selection, for under $ 150.00 ( rod, reel & line )

    good luck
