Just wondering as my family and i are considering emigrating to Calgary. If so in your opinion, if you lived in a different country would you move there or not? we have all ready been on holiday to calgary in 2005 and enjoyed it so much we got back and looked into emigrating, but it got put on hold for one reason or another. so in 2007 we went to Toronto we enjoyed that holiday but not as much as Calgary as it was much more up beat. my dad is re- training to be a L.G.V driver. we are a young family of 4 the youngest being 8. Do you think we should move? thankyou for the answers Ellie xxxx

  1. Hi!  I live in Edmonton which is about 3 hours north of Calgary.  Also have good friends who live in Calgary.  Calgary is a very nice place.  Great location to the Canadian Rockies.  We are actually going there tomorrow to spend a week camping.

Calgary's housing market is a mess right now.  But it is a buyer's market so good for you!

I don't know if your family should move or not but Calgary would be a good choice to begin a new life.  I am also an immigrant here in Canada.  I am an American citizen but moved here because my husband is Canadian.  We have a 4 year old and it is a great place to raise your family.

Best of luck to your family!

  2. You might want to take the weather into consideration.  If you go to www.weather.com you can check the average weather year round.  Parts of Canada have extreme temperatures  (very hot in the summer, and very cold and snowy in the winter, unlike the mild weather in parts of England.)  Vancouver, British Columbia (in Southwestern Canada) is known to have mild weather pretty much year round, though.
