The London bus with it's sheared roof crossing the Tower bridge, and another film called 28 days where the star of the film is walking through the streets of a deserted London, how do the film makers manage to get the shots like this.

  1. Hate to break this to you grandpa, but nowadays there is something called advanced movie technology or to simplify it further, film trick. What is made out to be a desolate city in reality could just be a lonely 2 mile stretch of road multiplied and doctored to look like what you get in 28 days later.

  2. Money, special effects and blocking use of that part of the town.  Great part in the movie

  3. Money XD

  4. They film them very early in the morning and have blockades around corners that arnt visable on film, every so often they have to let the traffic thru then start again, So its basicaly Blockades up, shoot, let traffic thru blockades up and shoot again untill the shots finished.

Also this is what  IMDB says about 28 days later..interesting.

For the scenes in London, poilce would close the roads at 4am and filming would begin immediately. It would last for one hour, and at that time the police would reopen the roads. As well as having to deal with traffic, the producers also had to ask clubbers to find alternative routes home. In terms of the traffic, the producers correctly predicted that asking drivers to either wait for up to an hour or find another way might cause some considerable consternation. As such, they employed several extremely attractive young women (one of whom was Danny Boyle's daughter) to make the necessary requests. This plan had the desired results, as the drivers responded quite amicably to the young girls.

    and for the mummy returns-

London's Tower Bridge was closed to allow for filming. They were allowed to close it for 20 minutes at a time, but the resulting traffic jam after the first time brought threats of arrest from Scotland Yard and a reduced closing time of 10 minutes.

    hope that helps.

  5. Near as I remember, they get permission from the city itself to block off these areas then shoot the footage they need.  So while it seems deserted, really, a block away is a barricade with a wack of people watching the excitement.

  6. In 28 days later that footage was filmed very early in the morning and the overhead stuff you see was doctored with computers.
