  1. they will work...... however you may need an adaptor plug, you can buy these at d**k smiths or tandys

  2. A lot of Aussies buy duty free from Singapore and H.K and they work well. You may find that warranty claims may be an issue but as long as the "item" is 240 V 50 Hz with a 3 pin plug configuration ( socket connection) you will be ok.

  3. You will need an adaptor but you might also need a voltage converter.

The adaptor will enable you to plug your items into different shaped electrical sockets. The voltage converter will make sure the appliance uses the right amount of power. You don't want to discover that you buy your item and the Australian electricity is going to blow up its motor or not be strong enough.

The site below has advice and guides. Also ask in the store when you consider purchasing. If you buy duty free they usually know the particulars because they get these questions all the time.

  4. they should do. However if you buy something like a TV, VCR or DVD player you will find that it has been set for the area only and it may or may not work properly, try getting a local installation person to set it up for you. Better still, buy them here in the sales, at discount outlet centres or put them on lay-by.

  5. Yes they would work.  But you would need to change the plugs or have an adaptor.

Also if you buy a playstation, you Aussie games might not work on it. (Depending on the region)
