  1. Everyone is right. It takes time for the insurance company to process the claim. It takes time for the death certificate to be issued, and usually that is the delay. Insurance company need the proove of the death of life insured, and this canot be done over a telephone call to the company, informing them their client is dead. Best get in touch with your mum's adviser, the one who sold her the policy.

    My condolences to your family.

  2. Sorry your mom died 9 days ago (only 6 of which were business days) -- but the claim process does not work that fast.

Have you contacted the life insurance company and asked them what the process is? There is quite a bit of paperwork involved and I doubt you have completed it. Depending on how the policy reads, the life insurance proceeds may have to go through probate.

If you are the executor of the estate - I suggest you call the life insurance company and find out what the process is.  If you are not the executor - I suggest you follow up with the executor and ask them what is going on.  However, it's going to take a while before any funds are received.

    Sorry for your loss.

  3. GET A LAWYER NOW

  4. Was the policy paid up?  If the company is trying to deny you, you might need a lawyer to help you work it out.

If you are low income, you can get help from Legal Services, an agency formed to assist you.  You can find them in your Yellow Pages or by following the link I have provided below.

Good luck to you.  Very sorry for your loss.

  5. What country?  Are you the only named beneficiary?  Have you provided them with a certified copy of the death certificate (or whatever they require)?

  6. First of all, did you send them a death certificate?

  7. Get an attorney, I made a mistake by not getting one, and because of it, I was cheated in a legal situation.  Never ever trust -anyone- when it comes to money...if you have to, put it on a credit card....but get the best one you can afford....

  8. Sorry for your loss.

Contact the state insurance commissioner to lodge a compaint. There may be other factors that are holding things up.

  9. first off, im so sorry for your loss. insurance pays out under certain circumstances: was she paying the premiums on time? what were the stipulations of the insurance? (were accidental deaths covered, and what caused your mom's unfortunate death, etc?). did you ask them why and what did they say? if your mom was paying her premiums every month and passed away due to something that is supposed to be covered by that company's insurance, they can be sued, but i think they probably have a reason for denying you the funds; you just need to find out what that is and try to rectify it. good luck.

  10. Hi, need more information, was the premium and cover up to date, what kind of policy was it and what did it cover.

What basis was the decline.  If you give me more information, I might be able to help.

  11. Why are they saying that they wont pay?

  12. You need to contact an attorney immediately.

  13. Sorry about your loss, but 6/25 was only last week!!!  It takes a while for insurers to pay out - they need to have the death certificate, etc.

  14. Sorry for your loss.

You haven't allowed the insurance company enough time. Also, you need to submit a death certificate with the claim form, and it usually takes a few days to receive the certificate from the funeral home.

Life insurance claims usually take 2 -3 weeks after the claim has been submitted. If the policy was less than two years old, they will investigate the cause of death, and order medical records to find out if any pertinent information had been omitted from the application.

If pertinent info had been omitted from the application, and if the company would not have issued the policy because of an omitted health condition, the beneficiary will receive only the premiums paid.

Other reasons for the insurance not to pay are (1) if the policy had lapsed for non-payment of premium, and the policy had no non-forfeiture values; cash value, extended term, reduced paid up value. (2) If the policy was a term policy, and it had expired.

Don't be so anxious to receive the money. The beneficiary will receive the funds soon if everthing was done properly, from completing the application, to the payment of premiums, to filing the claim.
