Hi, the clutch pedal on my car stays down when suppressed- It won't go into gear at all, and when we did manage to push it into 1st it jumped forward and stalled even when the clutch was down. When I pump the clutch it leaks a black fluid. A little while back it was making a screeching noise when I took my foot of the clutch. The car is a S reg Ford Fiesta. Any ideas what it could be and how much it could cost to fix? Thanks

  1. bad slave cylinder for the clutch.try to bleed the system.possibly a bad clutch also

  2. you either have a bad master cylinder or a clutch cylinder on it or a busted line for the clutch system on it,either way you cant drive it though until its been repaired, the fluid your seeing is the brake fluid leaking from it ,more than likely its the slave cylinder that's gone out on it,that's the most common cause for one to do that, good luck with it.

  3. you blew the clutch pad material (the screetching) and the clutch sysytem blew out (hydraulic) the pumping the pedal was a sign that you had air in the system and the staying down meens the slave (throwout) is beyond the fulcrum point. time for a major clutch job around a thousand dollars parts and labor. I'm expecting a lot of new parts on this is why the price

  4. Sounds like the clutch hydraulic cylinder is bad.  This would cause you not to be able to shift gears or disengage the clutch.  If you do it yourself you need to remember to bleed the air out of they system.  If youtake it somewhere it will probably have to be towed so that will add to the price.  Should not be more than a couple of hundred in total.  You may need a new clutch if its worn.  That will add up quick.  Good luck.

  5. Clutch master, slave cylinder, or lines. Could run up to 500 dollars. I would tow it to a shop and get an accurate estimate.
