  1. Most are "cast iron" aka "grey iron"

    Ductile Iron is better,less cracking.

    Some are Stainless Steel.

    Usually a 400 series alloy

    A bit less friction,but reduced corrosion/better appearance

    Carbon Fiber ,Ceramics,Composites are in use and making continuous developmental progress.

    There's also coated aluminum,,rather scarce though
