  1. Well, you may want to try to hit Newport RI and Cape Cod, MA.  That's really all I have, sorry!!

  2. First of all, just based on traffic alone, you can't do it all in three days.  Those little roads go slower than the highway.  Even if if you never slept and never got out of your car, you couldn't do it.  Besides, what fun would that be?

I strongly suggest that you change your plans...just a little.  I grew up in Massachusetts and have always vacationed in New England.  There are a few things worth seeing, but it is better to really stay there and experience them rather than try to run around the whole east coast barely knowing where you are or what you are doing.

I would pick three great places, and dedicate one day to each place.  Then you will have three rich experiences of New England and waste less time in the car when you could be having fun.

Let's face it:  Every last little quaint church looks exactly like every other quaint white church.  If you only have three days, you don't need to spend endless time passing a series of white churches that look pretty much the same when you could be spending an afternoon exploring the tidal pools on the beach in Falmouth, Ma on Cape Cod or touring the historic mansions in Newport, Rhode Island, or shopping in Great Barrington, then  Lenox, Massachusetts followed by a beautiful picnic and concert there at Tanglewood.

Don't try to do so much!  Pick three great experiences, one each per day, and make sure that wherever your hotel is has one fantastic restaurant to enjoy.  Map your route, pack lightly and prepare to have the best fun and eat some of the best fried clams, lobster, blueberry pie and ice cream of your life!
