Every weekends there will be heavy rush at the temple especially on Sundays. Kindly book every thing in advance over there (like lodges, darshan ticket, transport etc).

if you are in chennai , there is ttdc bus from t nagar, they charge you for dharshan also, place is near the balaji temple at venkatnarayan road t nagar. you can book from here for your dharshan and tehy drop you at around 10 pm same day

Going to Thirupathi is not something just like you decide and go.  It is world renown Temple of Lord Venkateswara and to get accommodation and darshan of Balaji is not that easy unless you are a VIP,  Since you say you are taking your old parents ,you should have planned well before hand.  There are any number of travel agencies who could guide you and take you to this temple, you better contact one of them.

they have diff.packages for triupati trip including , trip by VOLVO bus which i feel will be comfortable for your aged people, this pakage csts around you around Rs.1100 per head which is inclusive of accomodation & rs.200 tkt

Best day is weed days, You can try to contact Balaji Travels at T.Nagar. Well organised and smooth. Might be slightly expensive but he takes care right from a Morning coffee, Break fast, Lunch Evening Tea A/C Van (10 members) Dharshan at Both Thirumala and Alamelmangapuram.

I would rate this as the best and very convenient. Please have a nice trip and enjoy.*
