Hi,I have a poulan chainsaw electric. It has an addition on the chain besides cutters and rackers. Why ??

I think it has something to do with backlash. Do they interfear with the rackers?? Jack W.

  1. Yes, it is to keep you safe from kickback.  Kickback is where the saw comes back at your head from getting caught in the wood.  Almost all kickback accidents happen at the end of the bar, so why not cover the end of the bar.  No it does not interfere with the rakes.
