Are there any of you who had lenghtly cycles but successfully managed to become pregant? Please tell me how you did it. I tried my monthly cycles, but it has a limit of 35 days, so i am not able to calculate my ovulation successfully. I got my last period on June 23. Can you please tell me my ovulation dates. Thanks to all of you in advance :)

  1. I have irregular longer cycles and I watched for ovulation signs and charted my temp. Because my ovulation day varied every month it was necessary to do these things.

Watch for ovulation cramps, and your cervical mucus. Watch your cm everyday and look for changes. When it turns watery and then resembles egg-whites, you are in a fertile patch. Egg-white cm should be stretchy between your fingers, while other cm will be sticky, and break easily. There is plenty of information out there on the internet about pin-pointing ovulation - not limited to people with normal 28-day cycles.

Do not go by midway point!!!!!!! Your ovulation date should be between 10-16 days before your next period. The 10-16 dates is your luteal phase, it varies between women and is an average of 14 days long (but could be anywhere between 10-16 days). Longer cycles mean that you ovulate later - but your luteal phase usually stays similar. If you calculate the mid-point of your cycles you would end up with a lutual phase about about 22-23 days - which just doesn't really happen. After ovulation there is limited time for the egg to be fertilised, travel down the tube and get to the uterus - this does not take over 20 days!!!! So for a 45 day cycle and a luteal phase of, say, 15 days (time given for release of egg to travel, get to uterus and your body to decide if it's viable or not), you would ovulate on day 30 - definitely not mid-point!! Please don't go by that answer!! This is why charting temp is good - it can help you figure out your normal length luteal phase, and pin-point when ovulation usually takes place.

  2. Look into Natural Family Planning.

It teaches you how to look at body ques to determine ovulation.

Ex ~week before, you start to get more vaginal mucus, thick and clumpy.  It will slowly thin and become stringy and clear, this much facilitates the sperm traveling to the uterus and is the time to be trying!!!  When is changes again ovulation has occurred (still can get prego for a few days though.

You can also to basal temps, but this is very accurate.  map if over the course of a few months to really figure it out, but the signals are always the same.

  3. You try fertilityfriend.com for charting and to keep track of your ovulation...it is free.

Regarding lengthy cycles, my Dr. said 40-45days cycles are fine as long as they are regular...

  4. you just missed it but you could still be ovulating .

you can also try a basal thermometer. good luck

  5. I would buy a few ovulation predictor kits and use those for a couple of months. Good luck!

  6. try this link

  7. It should be midway between your periods.  Are they always 45-55 days?  I had extremely irregular periods before, and it was pretty much impossible to calculate ovulation.  If they are always 45-55 days, just use the calendar and count it up to the midway point.  Then allow about a couple of days before and a couple of days after the midway point to be the "span" of ovulation.

  8. chart your temp, is only the best way.
