Hi,i am going to US this week can i buy a 21" LCD monitor there and bring it to india.Should i pay extra $.

Rates are similar now. It would be better that you buy the monitor in India, because you will get a better after sales service. If you ask me to decide, I would not buy it in US.

I work for a company that makes LCD monitors and I get a lot of questions concerning purchasing our products and taking them overseas. The main thing that I always tell them is for them to remember that any warranty that the monitor has would not be honored if that monitor is outside of the United States. It can be shipped to the US for repair but that is a lot of traveling for an LCD monitor. This would heighten the changes of that monitor becoming cracked, which is not covered under the warranty.  Depending upon your needs, if it doesn't need to be a 21", then there is  a 19" on this website: www.acer.co.in.  Here you can check out the product and click on the link for 'Where To Buy' to find resellers in your area.  

If you purchase an LCD in the US and take it to India then check out the warranty for service locations in India, depending upon the manufacturer. If there are none then make sure you always pack it properly if you need to ship it back to the country of origin for repair and make sure that you insure it sufficiently in case it gets cracked during shipment.

i think you can bring a reasonable amount of anything in your personal luggage. if you have 5 of them you would have to pay an export tax.
