  1. Vietnam is a good place but I have bad comments to some Vietnamese. They think of foreigners as walking dollars. When you take a taxi, they always have a trick for not having an extra money for change, same thing to motodriver. When you go to market, you can notice that the price they gave to the local people were different with the foreigners and when you ask them why is that? Well.... they will only answer you that you're a foreigner and you have a lot of money. Renting a house, room is not that easy to find. Besides of difficulty in communications, you can be sure that the price they will offer is again has big difference than the local people. When I was in Vietnam, living in Tan Binh District  and got the chance to rent a small room and I asked the house owner to install me an adsl line, in which I paid because I needed for my work,  I got it. But it didn't come to my senses that everytime I am leaving for work, they are using my private adsl line and were playing on-line games. When I received my bills and make a complain, well, it's just seem that nothing happened. When I felt that these people are just playing tricks on me and are taking advantage of my kindness, I decided to leave their  house but asked them to pay me back the adsl line connection that I paid. But they did not pay me back. They told me that they will complain to immigration, but when I told them that it was me who will make a complain because they let me live and rent their room  without registering my name to the police which is one policy of every country, they stopped treathening me. How can they complain while I have all my receipt signed by them. I have my receipt when I am the only one using my adsl connection  and when they started using my line.  I have my receipt proving that I am a good payer and are always on time and sometimes advance paying my room rental. I tried to call  the police station if in case, but sadly, the one in-charge online doesn't know how to speak english.  So I just did not bother  about making a complain, but good thing is, the house owner where I am living before stopped when I told them that I already made my complain.

Many are users here and you have to be careful because a lot of people cannot be trusted. At first they will make friends at you but let me tell you to be careful because you don't know what the first intention was. One time my friend and me were walking in District 1 and one nice looking lady touched my friend's hand. It happened between 6 and 7 pm while we are walking along District 1. When my friend look back to her, she is giving my friend  a charming seductive look and then came closer to us and asked his name and bingo!!!! they have a one night stand.

In fairness to Vietnam, I like the foods. Although I beleive that not all Vietnamese are bad, but sometimes bad people can twist even the good people in Vietnam.

What else I can comment to this country, well.............. I have found some true friends to cherish and they will be a part of me once I leave  this country.

Vietnam is a country full of history, a people that you can love and hate, a memory that you can share with friends, and most of all, Vietnam is the only country in Asia where people speaks Vietnam Language of course................ Wellllll.............. I still love Vietnam because this is my second country everytime I am out of my country. This is also a home to me.

  2. Vietnam is a wonderful country which has more than 4000 years of Civilization. It's endured numerous major political conflicts.

    Vietnamese people have hard-working ethics.

Saigon was once known as "The Pearl of the Far East".

I hope some day, Vietnam would be economically reckoned as one of the "Dragons of Asia".

Every time I think about Vietnam, I think of the memories I was growing up with:

The people. Most of whom are poor but have great hospitality.

The foods - simply prepared but exceptionally aromatic & delicious.

The atmosphere of "Tết" - the new clothes, the sound of firecrackers & the red envelopes of "lì xì".

    My unforgettable first love.

Hanging around w/ my dearest friends.

Running half-naked in "xà lỏn" under the falling rain.

Playing soccer with my pals in a nearby Buddhist temple's ground.

Roaming slowly around the city on a bicycle in a nice breeze.

The passing-by female students with long silky hair, gracious gait in beautiful elegant white "áo dài".

    The everyday chaos & transquility.

The contant transformation of the country as a whole towards a more hopeful future.

I've always longed to be back there.

  3. I've definitely thought of visiting, but have not done so...yet.  I'm Vietnamese, but was born in Canada.  I have distant relatives there, and my parents have been back to visit, but I've never been.  I remember hearing stories of their lives there, back in the day, and to me, it's almost surreal.  I'd like to go one day, just to see what it's like, but hearing stories of the corruption and all of that, scares me.

  4. well, i have great respect and admiration for the country and the people.  i go to SEA whenever i can, but have never gone back into vietnam (war veteran-i guess i still have issues).  and yes i think of doing it everytime i'm near (laos).

  5. I think they are people and should be respected like everyone else.

  6. I have thought about going to Vietnam, my dad served there and told me it was beautiful.  My neighbors are Vietnamese and are great people, very polite (unlike my other neighbors).  They have showed me pictures of where they used to live in Vietnam (can't remember the name of the town) and it was very beautiful.

  10. Love the food.

  11. good food and hot girls. I went to vietnam 4 years ago and would love to go back again soon. The only thing i didn't like is that all the clubs closed at midnight.

  13. I served there during the Vietnam war (I'm an old guy). The Vietnamese I knew and know now are wonderful people. The women are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I am only sorry we didn't do better for them.
