  1. would be handy to know the make model and year of your car.

  2. take it to the car makers may be a little fault in it

  3. Take your car in and get it diagnosed. Sounds like a problem with your ABS sensor. Get it checked over for peace of mind. You don't want braking problems.

  4. If for some reason the ABS light comes on and stays on, this is an indication that the ABS system will not work if needed. There is one thing you can check (actually two). First check the brake fluid and see if it is at the correct level. If it is than check all the fuses. It fluid level and fuses are OK, then you have to take it in to find the problem.

  5. With ignition off press brake pedal 10 times get somebody to turn on ignition and check that abs pump pressurises fluid if that's ok check if abs runs through light sequence (usually on  for 2-3 seconds then off) If it does this but comes back on when car is moving then either exciter ring on one of the wheels or sensor either high resistance or low output its very rare to get excess air gap on car abs sensors. If its a sensor just buy one and try plugging it in to each wheel fly lead and see if light goes out after abs does its self check. If all this fails its either the modulator block or abs ecu(very rare).abs isn't all that complicated you just have to work through it in a set sequence.Anyway if abs fails you still have full braking as it goes into fail safe so don't worry

  6. have the wheel sensors checked, you probably have a bad one.

  7. yeah, your ABS system is knackered in some way.

  8. it might b a connection problem

  9. Mine has been on in my Acura Integra for 4 years...no problems

  10. say good bye to your car,if you had fond memories of it no point in keeping it by doing repairs here maintenance here and there all you be doing is throwing good money into bad, this is the beginning so just get rid of it and get yourself a new car it be cheaper in the long run.

  11. many, many reasons but the most common has got to be the speed sensor mounted in the wheel and another common issue has got to be the (ABS) control module...good luck.. but you need to take your vehicle to a certified technician.

  12. Most common reasons are a dirty sensor, especially if it's not integrated into the bearing hub, or the differential sensor on trucks. Or a bad air gap from being knocked out of position, or a bad wheel bearing. Or a break in the wire to a sensor. Even improper routing of the wiring to a sensor can cause problems from magnetic interference. All of these are pretty easy to find and fix without real expensive diagnostic equipment.

I could have been a lot more specific if you had mentioned what kind of vehicle it was. A lot of people seem to think all cars are the same, but that's just not the case.

    Additional Details

the car is a vauxhall calibra

In that case, all I can give you is the generic information I already did. I'd never even heard of that car, since it was never sold in the U.S.
