  1. ask the McCanns

  2. I'm not in the same situation, but if you look at holidays in Menorca you should find something as the island is totally geared towards families and children

  3. Charging for two adults is pretty much standard in the travel industry nowadays. You'll rarely find a child's rate unless you are traveling with an infant. Regardless of her age, she is a body that will occupy space. I travel extensively with my daughter and sometimes my niece, both are young. Generally when traveling through out Europe the accommodations aren't typical of the US. In the sense that a lot of the rooms have single occupancy beds and shared bathrooms. If you want a room that has double occupancy and a private bath...be prepared to pay for it. Use an American chain (i.e. the Hilton) or opt for a 4 star or better European hotel. As far as Caribbean travel or travel throughout Central or South America, anticipate the same. Have you ever considered a trans-Atlantic cruise vacation? They are expensive but cost effective and will allow you to accomplish your travel goals.

  4. Unfortunately for you, this is fairly standard. A child takes up the same airplane seat and costs an airline as much to transport as an adult. Hotels are normally priced based on two people to a room.

There is one other thing that you need to check out. A few countries (Mexico, for example) have restrictions on children who are not traveling with both parents. In these cases, you may need special documentation from the other parent giving permission to travel. To see if you may have a problem, contact the embassy or consulate for the country that you are visiting or check this link: http://www.travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p...

You probably won't have an issue, but it never hurts to check. If you guess wrong, your trip will end before you board the airplane.

  5. We booked through Esprit-holidays and I am pretty sure you can book only one adult and one child, we paid per adult and per child when we went skiing.

  6. there are travel companies that cater for single parents as i inquired 2 years ago.just google single parent holidays hope that helps
