If you can't add him/her, then can you change the type of account so you are both holders on that account? Or maybe invest this funds somewhere else?

  1. The account has to be for each individual (until one spouse dies).  However if one spouse has enough earned income to cover contributions to both accounts, you could contribute the annual maximum to both IRA's.

Each spouse could make the other spouse the beneficiary of their account.

If you want to give your spouse login access to manage your investments, that is up to you.  My brother manages our mother's IRA and Roth IRA.

  2. I'm sorry but no. IRAs are Individual Retirement Arrangements.  But You can put your spouse on your beneficiary designation form so that you spouse gets it if you pass away.
