Question:

Hi Definition straight to disk recording?

At present we are shooting and editing in HDV and high definition. AT some point soon we are upgrading to one of the newer cameras with the NDMI output amd would like to record uncompressed HD footage onto a hard disk. The problem being that this will effectively double the price of an already £4,000 camera.

I have heard that you can make the array to record onto for far less cost and am considerig doing it that way.

Anyoe know of anybody who's done this and any success/problems they've had?

Not really looking for specific technical advice just want to know about people's experiences with it

  1. You did not indicate which camera.

Since you are already shooting and editing HDV, is it OK to continue that? Why not just use the camera's DV port and connect to a FireStore external hard drive?
