  1. All Gov't and State laws forbid a householder to do their own wiring, as stated it kills, also voids any insurence on the home, do you really want that? also how would you cope if a child turned on the stove and died? don't do it or try it, there is no second chances with electricity

  2. call the electrician to help you if you're not experienced, you don't want to burn your house do you?

  3. MATE YOU SHOULD BE USING AN ELECTRICIAN WHY RISK IT ELECTRITY CAN KILL

  4. Todd N, perhaps you should read the The Electrical Safety Act 1998.

Joe P stick with a Licensed Electrician, for your own safety, and your family.

  5. The red and the black are your two hot leads. Connect the red to one and the black to another. Their particular placement is not important (A1 -or- A2).

"Yoda" - There is no Federal or State law forbidding a homeowner from hooking up a new electric stove. He isn't even attempting to rewire the outlet, just hook up to the receptacle that is already there. And no it would -not- void his homeowners insurance. Even if he were to burn the house down in the process.^

Edit - "ampy" - I am curious as to how you think that (repealed) code applies to this situation.

I suppose you also think Home Depot, Lowe's and Sears send a licensed electrician over when the delivery person delivers and hooks up new stoves, dryers or washers (you probably think the latter requires the services of a licensed plumber as well).
