I am asking because I need a 9 volt charger and I can only find 120v and or maybe watts, I'm not sure. Are watts and volts the same thing.

  1. No, volts and watts measure different aspects of power

  2. No.  Watts equals volts times amps.  You need the proper charger in VOLTS.  Simple division of watts and total AMPS it will allow to be drawn will tell you the voltage.

    Think of voltage like water pressure in a hose.  Higher, and you'll blow the hose.

  3. no but watts does go up by multiplying the volts by 10

  4. watts x amps = voltage

    simple math. watts does not equal voltage.

  5. No, volts and watts are very different.

    A charger converts ac (alternating current) voltage from the 110 volt ac supply to your 9 volt dc (direct current) device to charge it's battery. The watts are the power used.

    There are four things in electricity, they are voltage (volts), current (amperes), power (watts) and resistance (ohms).

    The voltage is a potential, the current is the flow through the resistance and the power is the result of the current flow.

    Some formulas for these are:

    watts = volts x amps

    amps =  volts / ohms

  6. no......

    WATTS= power consumption

    if your appliance needs 1100 watts (W) and operates on 110volts (V) then the demand will be . . . 10 amps (A)

    this factor can be reversed too!

    if your appliace needs 10amps and consumes 1100 watts, then you simply divide Watts by Amps  = 110 Volts.

    NOW, 90W @ 120V = 0.75A

    or

    now we know the Amps is 0.75 you can see that 0.75 x 90 = 120V, see its fun!

    SO, as for your main question you will need to find a charger that has the voltage (V) and current (A) for a total wattage (W) that you require.
