Hi I am having bday party for my 4 year old next week. Cake question vs cup cake cones.?

I really want to do the cup cake ice cream cones but then I want her to have a traditional cake too. Should I get or make a small cake on the side? There will be 8 kids and a few teens and 15 adults.

cup cakes for the kids make a mall cupcake with her candles on it for her. and a small cake for the rest on the side for adults and older kids good luck have fun

It's a birthday.  Cake is cake.  Everyone will be happy no matter what, so save your stress for the other stuff that comes with a 4 year old.  That being said.  It is easier to have cupcake cones to pass out, but they are a little more difficult to stand in the oven.  They do make the pan for it.  I would also have a cake on the side for pictures, blowing out the candle.

I think you can do both if you want.  Maybe do a single cake mix in a 13X9 pan as you would normally, but before you fill the big pan, fill just one ice cream cone.  Then bake as normal (except watch the cone, it will cook faster).  Then when you ice the rectangle cake, use the cone cupcake as the topper.  Then birthday girl can have that as her cake and the rest can have traditional.

I think you could do both. The four year olds would have alot of fun with the cup cakes!

Because you know they always want to be entertained.

And as for the adults just a cake would be fine. :)

♣ Cake: Order an inexpensive cake for 15 ppl from your local chain grocery store. Have it decorated for your 4-year-old. Give them 2 days in advance to have it ready. Get a flavor that the grown-ups will like, because the kids will be all over the cup cake ice cream cones.

♣ Cup Cake Ice Cream Cones: If you're using real ice cream *and* cupcakes, put the ice cream in the bottom part of the cones in advance and keep them in the freezer. Set a decorating table for the kids (and teens - trust me), with sprinkles, frosting, etc. When the kids are done decorating their own cupcakes, pull out the cones and put the cupcakes in them. Send them outside to eat! The teens will want the cones over the cake - have them help with the assembly line!!!

maybe the kids could have the ice cream cone cup cakes (mmm=]) and the older people could have the upside down cake becasue the pineapple upside down seems like a more "sophisticated" cake

I would make the cupcakes for the kids and do an adult cake for the adults.  The pineapple upside down cake sounds yummy!
