Actually this is my brother's two wheeler, which am using. So, what would be the procedure between both the RTOs and what all documents do i require? Since, i am not the owner of the vechile, is there any particular procedure? Please provide me end-to-end details to ride my bike in Chennai without any issues?

  1. First of all the main concern is here that the vehicle is not in your name, so the documents require the owners signature.

If your brother is also willing to transfer the vehicle in your name, then the documents that are required will be Transfer of Ownership Form, Ownership Transfer from(if vehicle is under finance), Valid Insurance, Valid Pollution certificate.

Since, this is from a different state, the NOC (No-objection certificate ) need to be affixed along with the above documents.

The documents that would be required at Chennai would be

    1. Photo Identity and Signature Proof ( PAN Card)

    2. Address Proof.

    3. NOC

    4. Copy of Insurance

    5 . Vehicle Transfer Forms

You have to present the vehicle for inspection in the specific RTA under which your address falls.

  2. You will have to take an NOC from the Bangalore RTO where the vehicle was registreed. After you relocate to chennai, take a residence proof of the place in chennai and go to the concerned RTO in chennai region. You are done.

PS: After u get the NOC from Bglr, u have 1 yr time to get it re-registered in chennai i believe.

  3. take a NOC from Bangalore RTA...

deposit it with RTA Chennai... and get a new vehicle No...

  4. Hi, It will be similar to a new vehicle registration. You will have to have your bill of the vehicle, RC papers, and insurance + NOC from Banglore RTO. First you pay a fee for that they will give a receipt and there will be a inspection by RTO. Once that is done, you are good to be on road with your old number. But carry your receipt always, since all these cops will be waiting to stop you. The RC book and registration number will take at least 2 months to come, have a copy of your RC book and the recipt in hand. Keep checking the RTO, once the RC book is received along with the number, change the number in your vehicle as well as in your insurance. You are good to go......

    Hope this helps
